I learned a great deal working for almost two decades on Wall Street, the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange and covering European financial markets from London, as an anchor for CNBC Business Television.
I’m now delighted to be using my experience to help others as an independent LPL financial advisor at California Financial Partners, which has its own deep bench of technical expertise to draw on, not least its whip-sharp, new tax strategies department.
California Financial Partners invited me to join them because they wanted to recruit someone with the honesty that I’d publicly exhibited on live television for 18 years. They are themselves a small band of honest, independent financial advisors who believe in the power of teamwork & pride themselves on building their client base through trust & word of mouth.
Our investment recommendations are based upon strategy, not commissions. The fee schedule is transparent: we do not accept commissions on the fee-based platform and we pay the costs of buying and selling investments.
I took my federal and state licensing exams under the umbrella of independent broker-dealer LPL Financial. That’s really important because that means there is a powerful player overseeing what we do. But equally LPL doesn’t own anyone else. So we’re independent: no proprietary products to push, no sales targets to reach. My sole consideration is what’s right for my clients!
I travel a lot. But importantly for me as a gay man I recently put down firm roots in the LGBT community of Palm Springs & Coachella Valley.
